Climbing Chirripó: The Introduction
The centerpiece of my Costa Rica adventure was the hike to the top of the country’s tallest mountain, Chirripó. It may not be a very technical hike, but it is taxing, both physically and mentally. For those in excellent shape, the hike is at least 5 hours of nearly constant uphill hiking, and the toughest, steepest piece is the last kilometer before base camp.
